Legalizing marijuana would benefit so many things, for instance like the economy. The economy is in such poor shape it needs a cure. All the tax money that the goverment will get it in return will help them out of the debt that their in. Legalizing marijuana would also make more room in prison. There are so many criminals in prison because of marijuana. Nearly 60,000 marijuana offenders are put in jail in the United States at any given time, according to a study published in the Federation of American Scientists' "Drug Policy Analysis Bulletin." The study also found that there were more than 700,000 marijuana arrests in the United States in 1997. There could be so much more room for other crimials who have a caused a more serious felonly. it also costs $20,804 to keep a prisoner in jail for a year. All that money that the goverment is wasting is not nessesary. They could just legalizied so they could use that money for more useful things. The goverment could do so much things with the taxpayers money that their spending on marijuana offenders. For instance like giving it back to the community or taking that money to get them out of the debt that thier in or spend it on education.
